street performance workshop

Puppetry, Mask & Street Performance Workshop

Sunday, July 22

1-5 PM
Fairview Park

What does it mean to transform a park into a puppet theater stage?  Why bother presenting theater under the sun, out in the streets, putting it directly in front of the public at large, which also means at their mercy?  Puppetry, Mask, and street performance is ancient form of theater which has existed since before humans built theaters or invented ticket prices and income brackets.  It's inevitably a participatory theater, since traffic, conversations, wind, and bird whistles become collaborators in the creation of the experience.

The Possibilitarian Puppet Theater is offering a Free Crash Course Workshop on Sunday, July 22nd, from 1-5pm, at Fairview Park in Ohio City, Cleveland.  Participants will be thrown into the special blend of how's and why's that is a Possibilitarian street performance, which will then actually be performed in two parks: Fairview park on Thursday July 26th at 7pm, and in Coventry Village park on Sunday July 29th at 2pm.  Participation in one or both performances is a mandatory part of participation in the workshop, and promises to be the fun part.  Please register by July 20th for planning purposes by calling Daniel at 215-771-8287.  There is no cost for this workshop, it's FREE.
